auto choke

so i have an edlebrock carb on my 86 351w. the electric choke seems to work like i pump the gas twice and it kicks in but it never shuts off it just keeps high idel. Is there a dual pwer source or a sensor that reads engine temp or something to shut it down. it looks like a fairly new carb. i didnt put it on.

There's an adjusting screw, (it points towards the back and up a little) that puts tension on the choke cam. The cam looks like a quarter circle thing with little steps on it on the left side of the carb right about in the middle. When the choke is set right, the top of the cam should touch the adjusting screw. If the screw is set too far in, the choke will never shut off. Loosen the screw so it just touches the very top of the cam while the choke is on but doesn't keep tension on it all the time.
