ok guys, I dove head first into this project. my girl and i putt-ed around the property a few times to relieve any last minute bronco driving anxieties. we all know this will prolly take me 6 months, lol. SO... i have my front axle stipped and the factory knuckles pulled off. i TWISTED 2 7/8" lug nuts trying to get one of the king pins out and said screw it! i think i may just leave them be since its a trail only truck anyways. i am getting everything cleaned (my parts washer tub is slap full). i have removed every steering part from the bronco, steering box, pump, tie rod, drag link, etc etc. kinda looks eerie! i will prolly end up buying a king pin rebuild kit from an offroad shop to make sure i have all the seals and bearings correct and dont have to wander around the parts houses for hours.
i have some pics but they are just of the tear down step and not really anything exciting. i will not be able to work on it in the next few days because work is going to be very hectic in the next few days and dont know if i will make it down to the shop. i will take pics as i go along and try to keep at least a log of some sort. i will also be noting all the sizes of bolts/nuts as well as line sizes and fitting sizes for anyone to reference later on.
i will post up the pics if anyone really wants me to. i will definitely make a full hydro build in my Picasa gallery
all my steering will be on top of the knuckle. that is why i broke the bank and went with dedenbears
-cutts-
sweetness.......you going a set of longfield cv's since you got it all apart?
its a pretty easy setup, me and a freind did his entire full hydro besides the lines in less than a day.....and that includes teardown....his was a psc kit...
did you get the full kit? pump, resi, and everthing? or just ram, and orbital?
and... taking up space taking up space message too short why can't we do white text here anymore?
how many times did you try b4 you realized it wouldn't work?, i edit my post like 4 times......b4 i figured it out.....but da pbr might of had somthing to do with it......
pump, steer valve, and ram. i will have to do some tube bending to get the ram positioned perfectly. i will also have to wait till i am compltely done so i can go have some lines made. i dont want to get half way through and realize i came up 6" short!
lol longfield CV's are a bit too overkill for me. if i ever decide i need those i will just go rockies!
i will try and get down to the shop today, its just a challenge after working 12+ hours.
see, i still want a challenge and dont want to get too far over my head. i think 47's and rocks are great, but i dont really want them. i like the 39's i have but think i would be most happpy with 42's! i think with 44's i would start breaking stuff.
plus i have a good amount of money in this 60 front (prolly more than i should) and would rather keep them. now if i could sell my axles for a reasonable price i would definitely go with rockies. in fact my dad asked me the other night how much i would sell my axles for and how much a set of rockies cost. he has a jeep he wants to build and i think he is interested!
