I have an 03 4.9 that has started coughing through the intake from what I can tell. It usually only does it when it is 30 degrees or colder. I've never had it do it when it was warm outside.
The truck is completly stock except for a K&N Intake system. It's been on the truck since new, with no problems!
When I say coughing, I mean it just sounds like the enigne coughs while it is sitting @ idle or when its coming down from high rpm to low rpm.
Help me out here, this is driving me crazy!!
I am assuming that it is a 4.6L V8??? The 4.9 I6 hasn't been made for a long time.
Sounds like the IAC Idle Air Control valve. It's noisy, but not really hurting anything. You probably wouldn't even hear it with the stock air intake on it.
