I thought that myself. I have a dpf delete and I put the new cj4 Amsoil in it today and every oil guy around swears you can put ci in it. Without the dpf you've got to be able to.
The reason I would like to run CI is because Amsoil recomends 10,000 miles on CJ oil and 25,000 for CI. The Amsoil tech did not have much good to say about the CJ rating.
I would stick with cj4. That is what is recommended for our engines.
I'm with this guy. One extra oil change every 20k miles is not going to kill your pocket my friend, but failing to do so might kill your engine or something else associated with it.
There is no sense running synthetic if you can't extend your intervals. I know it will not hurt the engine in fact the CI oil is better but I wonder about the egr system. Does anyone know if the egr system is ant different than the 6.0L, I can't imagine the engine oil messing with the egr. Usually the tolerances aren't that tight. The fuel being used sems to effect the egr more than oil.
