Im talking about the pulley not the harmonic balancer. The balancer takes a puller. Im trying to get the center bolt loose on the belt pulley that bolts into the crank.
Thanks
opps sorry, your right..ok how about a 4 foot extension? I have had 3 of these apart this summer and I havent had any trouble with that paticular bolt other than lots of grunt.
believe it or not turpentine is one of the best bolt "looseners" i have ever used...i soak a rag and leave it wrapped around (over night if possible) it always works good for me...

OK the center bolt holds the harmonic balancer on , while there's "4" 9/16 head bolts that hold the belt pulleys on .
But I use a Big Impact wrench to get the center bolts out. Or you can use a 2 foot piece of pipe over your ratchet....
A bit off the subject, but a trick I found to get the crank bolt loose without the engine spinning is to remove the pulley (that is stuck in your case) and bolt a double box end wrench to the harmonic balancer, and the other end of the wrench to some available bolt like a water pump bolt. Works great for those without a monster air wrench.
I finally got it off!!! The damper is actually warped. That might be why I had to replace the mains. I was in the scrape yard looking for a damper and found a 400M from a 79 truck and bought it for $150. It actually runs. Thinking about rebuilding it and leaving the 351M in the truck alone. Thanks for the help.
