If I am guessing you issue right you just found out why a lot of us realized that just direct fitting the intake hose over the end of the 6637 filter wasn't such a good idea and used a short piece of 4" exhaust pipe. But to do it easier if you don't want to go that route you need to warm up the intake hose, one way is to use a hair dryer, or take it off the truck and I have even seen guys boil it or warm it in a microwave (remove the hose clamps first though)
nope the other end actually fits, the end your working on doesn't actually fit over the 6637 you have to stretch it's diameter almost a quarter inch to get it over.
I streched mine to fit and it came off once, clamped it tighter never came off again. It will fit, just don't oil it, then it will come off all the time.
I'd take it off of the turbo intake and try the hair dryer trick. We had to take mine off the turbo the first time and with some effort it went on the 6637 and the stock clamp worked just fine. Lots and lots of miles and several filters later still no problems. After you get it stretched the first time every replacement filter goes on like it was made for the truck.
Chris, I'm not sure why, but I have some kind of angle misfit issue right now. The stock intake tube is torqued a little to an angle, and I'm not comfortable leaving it like that... just keep forgetting to get the elbow I need.
I have to order some things tonight, so I'm going to find it and go ahead and get it.
Pete, looking at your pictures again I'm wondering if you're problem isn't related to the filter minder & bottom of the battery tray that's keeping your filter farther away from the fender and causing the bind. Either way I'm going to do some more checking on mine tomorrow after the rain finally stops.
I actually don't even use the FilterMinder any more, Chris. It could be the bottom of the tray extensions, but I sure do hate to cut up the box. Never know when I might just want to return the truck toa stock intake in order to sell it, and once those pieces are cut, they don't go back together so well.
