80/86 Bronco bumpers are direct fit. Also, some F 100's came with the smooth Bronco bumpers, but like I said the brackets are longer. I'm heading back to the junkyard tomorrow to pull the bumper and brackets off an 80 F100.
I didn't realize the brackets were different till I paid for the Bronco bumper and went back in for something else, so I have to buy another bumper just for the brackets.
I'll post some pics later today of the Bronco bumper and brackets.
Well, here are some pics of the Bronco bumper. Like I said, the Bronco bumper brackets are a little too short.
Choices are to either get the right bracket from an early F-Series truck, or possibly cut the rear last 4" off the frame rail from a doner truck and weld them on to your frame. Then bolt the Bronco bumper on as is. I am considering that option at the moment. The Bronco brackets look "nicer".
The truck brackets are too visible in my opinion. Also, on Bronco's there is a filler panel that covers the frame rail on the top so you can't see the brackets at all. That may be an option with the longer truck brackets.
Well, I went back to the "yard" today to get the correct bumper brackets for this swap......
The bumper and brackets were still there, but I couldn't get the damn brackets off. They made me buy another smooth bumper (not as nice as the one pictured) just for the brackets.
I guess tomorrow I'll be taking the fire wrench or a disc grinder to the rusty bumper bolts so I can swap out the brackets.
BTW: the truck brackets for the smooth bumpers are pretty rare.
Well, after taking the grinder with a cut off wheel to the bumper bolts on the sport bumper.....
Here you go. I like the look a LOT better than the painted step bumper that was on there. Not quite as practical as the step bumper, but it looks much better IMO.
That looks great! I've since found that these Bronco bumpers are available through LMC (#49-9545) and they list them as being available for '80-'86 Stylesides but no mention of the rare brackets. I'll be checking the salvage yards once it warms up. Thanks for sharing the information and the pictures.

Guess what? I FOUND another set of F100 rear brackets in the yard today and another nice sport bumper!
