Just dropped the pan on my transmission to put in a new filter. How many quarts do I need to put in. The manual said to put in 3 then check and fill, one of my friends said to put in 5.
You'd probably be safe putting in 4 to start with.
Filling a transmission seems to take me awhile to get it where I want it. Add more, half quarts at a time, until it's in the 'cold' range. I put it in gear in each position for a few seconds after adding and before checking the level. Once it's in the cold range I'll drive it a few miles and check it again, and add more if necessary to bring it to full in the 'hot' range.
