Now, Bubba, be nice. Someone out there told this guy that the 351M was named after his uncle Merlin, and 460 guy took him at his word.
Poke around a little bit, 460. Bubba has his site, as well as a lot of good posts in this forum.
Merlin is a new one (to me) in our unending quest for the meaning of the mysterious "M." Maybe I'm out of touch, but I haven't heard Merlin used as an engine name since the Rolls-Royce V-12 in the Supermarine Spitfire.
Oh, what do I think? I think the 351M has one tragic flaw (it's not a 400) and one redeeming grace (it can be converted to a 400).
lol, did someone say big block? i got into an argument the other day with the Mr. ford know it all in my neighborhood. he was telling my son that the 400 was a big block. so i was cleaning a spare set of 4V heads, i asked him what these were and he said thats easy 351 4v heads, i took out the 2v 400 heads, he said 351 2v heads. then i took out the spare 400 block and put the 4v heads on and asked him how do small block heads fit on a big block motor? it seems i had stumped him.
