removing Grease from underside

I am in the process of cleaning the underside of my X. There seems to be a fairly large amount of what seems to be some form of hardened grease/grime on the frame rails.

What would be the best chemical from a cost / effectiveness perspective to get this off? I have tried a few now with little luck.

Cheers,

I would do it right..... scrape it off, sand the frame, apply primer, and then paint the frame.

Cost being...... scraper, sandpaper, primer, and paint.

Are you certain it's not the rust resistant wax coating that's applied to the frame during manufacture?

I don't know that it's wax but I'd bet you're right in identifying this as OEM.

OP, I'd suggest that you either leave it as is or pull the body off the frame an do the job right.

In order for me to seal off the frame, i cannot leave it on as POR15 will not adhere to it very well.

As much as i would love to do it this route, pulling the body off the frame is just not an option. I guess i will be doing it "Not Right"

Thanks for the advice though
