My cousin is a grad student there. She happened to be off campus at the community collage teaching a course. Strangely enough she was showing a video of the Columbine shooting when it happened.

Sorry, but cops and armed guards won't do it--but an armed populace will. If even a tenth of the people in that classroom were carrying, the body count might be 2 or so--the shooter and his first victim--instead of 4,5,6,20,30, whatever.

I heard a report that the cops got there in just over 5 minutes, a pretty good response time. Too bad it was already over then. That's why citizens MUST be allowed to carry guns--so the response time can be seconds, not minutes.

I'd rep you, Dan, but I got the "spread the love" message.

My mom used to work in the hospital emergency. She'd get all the left-overs of the bar fights, wife beatings, DUIs, stabbings, BMX stunts, you name it. And she'd come home exhausted from sowing up these *******s get drunk and kick each other's faces in.

One day she decided I wasn't allowed to play hockey anymore because she'd seen some guy took a puck to his face and lost all his teeth. She still let me walk to school by myself, sent me to the store for groceries and trusted my sister alone with the baby sitter. But that guy with blood pouring out of his face and sowing his gums up just turned her off of hockey.

My girlfriend is the same way. Doesn't matter everyone around here owns guns and none of them ever shot anyone. She only thinks of the bad things that might happen. Not what would happen if some blacks home invaded our place and we had no protection.

My point is the occasional school massacre a year is not an awful lot in a nation of 300 million people. I've driven past more car accidents that I can remember. Seen the fireman cut the roofs off of cars and taking people into ambulances tied to gurneys, or just a body covered by a sheet. Never made me want to stop driving.

problem is that its not just one a year. there are not only massacres but shootings also. also the other problem is that people are starting to think its "just the way things are" as if its just normal. we all but think that way with our crime as it is now.

i don't, i think it is abnormal to have so many violent things occur in a country like this. its not like we are some poor down and out country in for example africa with poverty striven people every where and little combat actions occuring. it really astounds me how much violence occurs in a country so prosperous.

i was reading today he was in the Army but got the boot after a few months, reason unknown. plus he worked at a corrections facility but just stopped showing up one day. appeared he started up school again but did not even tell anyone where he was working his plans.

i am curious about the Army discharge reasons, could be nothing or could be something.

Ok...scuttlebutt...he was booted out for excessive drinking. Did take meds but went off them two weeks ago and began acting erratically. He was never in a mental institution.

Illinois is one of the most restrictive states in the Union when it comes to firearms. They require all firearm owners to be licensed and require full registration. But I do not think there is anything about having to state if you are taking particular anti depressant meds or not while registering.

A former employee at a Chicago psychiatric treatment center said Kazmierczak's parents placed him there after high school. She said he used to cut himself, and had resisted taking his medications....................................... ..Kazmierczak spent more than a year at the Thresholds-Mary Hill House in the late 1990s, former house manager Louise Gbadamashi. His parents placed him there after high school because he had become unruly, she said.

Gbadamashi said she couldn't remember any instances of him being violent.

"He never wanted to identify with being mentally ill," she said. "That was part of the problem."
The problem is the card app states that it has to be less than 5 years ago...

I stand corrected then about his ever being put into an institution. However this happening more than five years prior to the purchases....he was perfectly legal to buy these.

Immediate overwhelming response. If only 10% of the people had handguns, that would have been 10+ to his one with many firing angles towards him.

I posted well over a year ago evil would target schools because they are soft unprotected targets with the max. terror effect and it was only a matter of time until we have a Beslan like school attack in the USA.

Two people intent on taking out a whole school could easily enter and overpower any armed guard taking them out with a 200 yard shot before entering or just blasting them away with a shotgun at close range. Then it is easy pickings from there because noone else is armed.
