Ok guys, before I screw up the perfect chrome on my truck: Can somebody tell me how to remove it without ruining it? What tools if any I will need, and where I can buy them? It has the wide racetrack chrome, and the smaller chrome that goes over the wheel wells and fenders. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
A plastic putty knife will pry the racetrack moulding off the fenders and bedsides once you get behind it. You should be able to unscrew the nuts that hold the mouldings to the doors on each end. The smaller pieces I believe come off the same way. They can put up a fight at first but once you get a piece started it should come off pretty easy
The toughest part about removing the lower chrome on the bed is to get the tabs (labeled B in Dennis' diagram) above the inner fender arch loose. You have to reach up with a pliers to pinch the tabs so they pop out. I believe there are two that are kinda tough to get at. Everything else is pretty easy. Just have to remove the taillight in order to get at the back chrome. Take your time and if the chrome is not popping off easy, than you missed a tab or nut, because if done right, the chrome comes off really easy.
