My Wife and I are planning to relocate to Kentucky. We have done a lot of online searching. We would like to hear from anyone from Grayson county and surrounding counties. area about what it is like there, there is a lot that the relocation doesn't tell about the area. The Job market, the rental housing market, taxes, vehicle inspections are what we are interested in.Any Information will be a big help.
Grayson, KY is a unique area. I grew up and live in WV but spent a lot of time in the Grayson/Olive hill area in my teens and 20s. I still visit the area to relax and have some fun!
If you boat there is Grayson lake and Green Bow lake within a few minutes of the interstate. About 20 minutes away is Carter Caves State Park. That is a great place for outdoor fun and nature learning.
When in Grayson you are in a fairly wide flat valley of rolling hills but in 5 minutes can be in some good hills.
You will see all seasons with hot summers and snow in winter.
I always found the people friendly and talkative.
You can be in Huntington, WV or Ashland, KY in about 30 minutes. Lexington, KY in (as best I remember) about 1-1.5 hours. You are on I 64 and east/west route and about 1 hour from I 75 north/south.
Hope this helps.

Your right about all that, BUT he asked about Grayson County, not Grayson Ky...
I have lived in Warren Co. for almost 40 yrs. Kentucky is a gift from God, just drive around and see what this beautiful state is all about!!! Yeah, I've heard all that crap about taxes before; Kentucky is not as high as many other state surrounding us (TN. pays taxes on grocery items.) Tn. also has no state income tax and NO MONEY without a major tax increase. I have spent a great deal of time in Grayson Co. as the company I worked for made weekly deliveries to stores in Leitchfield weekly. We camped both at the area lakes and the United Methodist Camp Loucon. These people are the greatest folks you'll ever find and talented beyond your wildest dreams!!!
