Most of the times I think its quicker to just park and go in. The drive thru line tends to be longer then inside.
Very true. Many times i've driven past and seen no line inside but 6+ cars in the drive-thru. I'll park and go in then. But there are times when it's more convenient/efficient to use the drive-thru.
I do know that with my 88 CC Dually it could be pretty tight through those lanes.
I've never had a problem getting "sensed" but then, neither truck was lifted and only 33" tires.

It's not only faster but much better for you. I've seen lines in the Buffalo, NY area in the morning a quarter of a mile long waiting to get into a Tim Horton's or Starbuck's. Stop and think about it. Idleing for up to a half hour or more and blocking traffic out on the street just because you're lazy???

GENERALLY speaking I'd agree with you, but not 100%. Why? i'll give you an example. My mom is diabetic, battles with her weight, and is 71. She REALLY hurt her hip one year, slipping on the ice. Getting in and out of the car was difficult, so when she could use a drive-thru (pharmacy pickup, etc.) she did.
So while I do think drive-thru's can promote greater laziness, there are times when it's a better option.

I'll go along with this. But let's get handicapped stickers involved here. Stiffen the rules for getting them and make them a requirement for drive-thru use. Hell, I don't know. I'm glad I don't have to make the rules.

wow dude... don't take this too seriously, but are you sure you want to live in the US? I mean, if I broke my leg should I have to apply or use a handicap sticker?
Freedom of choice and all that, ya know? I can see your point to a degree, but then, I used to do triathlons and don't eat fast food very often.
Most technological advances are for the "betterment" of our lives, one of those ways being more free time. That's the point of a drive-thru. Are there alot of hypocrites out there? Definitely! Most likely we're all guilty of it as some time or other.
Will I continue to use them? Sometimes, yes. Most times, no. To each his or her own.
I read somewhere putting rare earth magnets on the front differential helps set off the sensors. Could be a hoax who knows?
Many sensors are a loop in the pavement. When a ferrous metal object comes within the field of the loop, it changes the oscillation rate and triggers the connected sensor. A magnet wouldn't help with that type. I'm not sure how the side trigger types work.
If you guys are having problems with your lifted trucks activating the sensors at the drive through or exit gates, I'm wondering if you've had to sit at traffic lights without the loop sensor triggering?

btw Mark a good friend of mine who happens to be a disability lawyer told me the other day that the rules are getting much tougher than they have in the past and that most of the handicap permits for fat people were issued more than three years ago before they changed the laws. so there is a little silver lining every once in a while. and oh yeah HAPPY VALENTINES DAY everbody!!!!
HAHA fat people and their handicap stickers..dont get me started..
but i do believe, as mentioned, there is one light that i have came across that if i dont hit the pavement just right i wont trip it. I was the first in line one night and i had a row of cars literally 1/4 mile long behind me or more waiting. People started getting out of line and turning right instead. There was very very little traffic from any other direction. Finally after at leas 6-8 minutes it changed to the go fast color
