i just want to say thanks to everyone who suggested Labelle's to me. I went to every ****ing starter/alternator place in saskatoon and they were the only ones who would even hear what i wanted after i said generator. Phoenix suggested i get a $1000 alternator in a generator case kinda thing from somewhere in the states and everyone else said "buy an alternator".
The only bad thing about Labelle's was i had to do the grunt work for finding the parts. They got Keith's phone number now tho . Im still waiting to hear back whether they will do i t or not and how much itll be. I might end up rebuilding it myself.
O, i bought new cap and rotor and plugs and the fancy see through red wires with the raja plug ends
i had nothing to do with it but i must say say, have you been running the 4800W 240V heater in your shop?? notice how much its costing you yet?? i'm just curious as it might be my choice for a bit here...
i've run into a snag with my gas-to-propanc conversion idea so i might have to run a bigger line for now and run electric heat... running gas to the shop would be costly but nice...
ya and when im out of town and on the lowest setting it keeps it at +3. No havent got an accurate bill but based on my boss ***** (Fom's son) and his shop is a biut larger than mine and it costs him an extra $100/month. Its a $70 220v construction heater and i keep it on lowerst setting untill i want to work inthere then i turn it up almost full (full blows my breakers) about 15 mins before i want to work in there and turn it down after about an hour to half and it stays perfect

i could use the wood stove, but it takes up a lot of space with clearances and all, and the damn insurance company wants to bend me over when they hear the "W" sound. 25% increase.
If you are going to rebuild it Note: It all deepends on the condition of the the Commutator.
If it is so wore down without grooves in it .. kiss it goodbye.
You know what is so funny?
My uncle who died in July 07 used to travel all over Alberta & Saskatchewan and buy up old starters/generators/alternators for scrap from auto wreckers..get them home...take them apart and sell each metal from them separately.
