5.0 Mountaineer Help

My Mother in law has a 99 Mountaineer. It's a Mecury, but aint that a ford. Anyway You guys have alway been good to me so I thought I would ask.

After her 5.0 heats up, the engine feels like it starts missing. Shakes real bad and the engine light came on. I did the right thing. I took it to Autozone and had them pull the codes. The code came back with Number 7 missfire. At least thats what the guy at autozone told me. This truck is the one with the two coils, the spark plugs come out of. So I replaced the coil that had #7 wire running to it. Made sence, since it only messed up when it got hot.

Well she drove it today and when it got hot the same thing happen.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Did you check or change #7 plug and wire?

Check the injector on that cylinder since he may have meant it's a fuel related misfire
not a spark related. Take a long scredriver or dowel rod and put it to that injector
and compare it to another one you will hear it clicking. Try it while it is cold and when
it is warm and the problem is happening!!

I did fix it. It was the coil. Lack of communication between me and the mother-in-law. The missfireing is not happening now it runs great. When she said it is acting up I just assumed it was doing the same thing. No I test drove it. It runs good, she had her carpet under her gas peddle and couldn't get any speed. hahahahah!!! I pulled the carpet back and she drove it. she says "omg it is so fast now! LOLOLOLO!!!

Thanks guys
