gas tank problem

gas tank problem
when i go to put gas into my tank it seems that the air has no place to go. i get about a gallon in then a air bubble comes and i got to stop pumping for a few sec and start again. i cant get more then a gallon in at a time. guesing it has something to do with a vent of some sort.

I had the same problem with my old '67 International Travelall. It turned out that the filler hose had colapsed and was kinked. With a 25 gal tank, I had to fill it at about 1/2 gal a minute. What a pain. Crawl under and check the filler hose. You may want to stick a coat hanger down there to see if you feel anything blocking it (golf ball, etc..) Good luck.

I used to work at a gas station. NJ is full service. We had the nozzles with the big plastic spring. If you stuck a pen to keep the plastic sleeze further out from the filler neck it would work. But if it happens everyware then its something with the filler neck/vent.
