mr dowty, paul. hi,
long but by necessity, i cant promise you anything in your time frame, but i am willing to try. why, YOU have been good and strait up with me and i have not forgotten. as it were, i have need to research all the major plug co,s myself for my dual plug shovelhead that i just paid big $$$ to have custom machined. your issue is just one more click or # no. i understand what you are asking. i have no facts but i bet someone makes your app. its just nonstandard. sometimes 2 keyboards are better than one. no big deal. hey is that 45 a tapered SEAT. paul k. md
Accel has a plug, it is a non resistor plug though, and its accels heat range H. you migiht want to see how accels heat range H matches up to autolites heat range 5.
The accel number is 8173. It is 18mm threads, .460 reach, projected tip, tapered seat NON RESISTOR heat range H. Accel says it is a 5/8 wrench end.
Accel also has the 0378 which is same as their 8173 except for that it is a "U-Grove" strap.

Is it possible in any way to modify the tool you are using to get to the plugs? We have all seen a chevy distrubutor wrench...any way you could do something like that to be able to remove, and torque your plugs in?
okay boss, autolite 45. 18 mm tapered SEAT. it goes from there. i realize i am not talking to a child. it would help if you would get back verbatim with your existing plug AS it reads, you know why. website databases cant think, they cry for###s i need a baseline. MR rd, you know as well as i do the plug you NEED might exist but it may end up from an entireley different motor or app. IF and only if we can find the right thread and reach YOU are on top of heat rande and etc etc right boss. personally it is as i said. i promise nothing, but it is an interestig issue and it would be FUN to try i am game. later me.
F/S: Thanks and it looks like i have a few options to try...i deeply appreciate your kind comments and effort as usual. You two spice this place up for sure.
Colo79ford: I'll look into those options for plugs...appreciate your help...i've not seen the chevy dist wrench but will look into that as well. I did get the thinnest deep socket in 13/16 that I could find and it wasn't enough.
In addition i just broke a rocker arm (alum roller) on the wheezer and will be working on that tomorrow as well....
Luck has been worse than usual lately as my 77 truck with the rebuilt 400 lost the tranny...a friend cracked the case getting it out and then my bronco went down...
gotta love it tho...at least I do!
especially the 335 forum....none other like it on the site! probably has something to do with shared crazyness.
I have a few spark plugs on an engine of mine too that can be a pain to change when in a hurry. I guess thats what happens when you cram a chevy 454 into a 1955 dodge car.
Is there any way you can post a photo of the room you have to work with and i will brain storm a tool design that would be pretty easy to make that will work.
