My first Ford...
was driving a Hemi Durango (15 mpg) I used it to pull my enclosed snowmobile trailer 2 times a week (30 miles) and 6-10 camping trips a year with my 25 foot travel trailer. Brakes didn't last long and The dodge felt pretty loose on the road.
So I found a '04 X with a V-8 after the 1st 100 miles I only got 10.5 mpg
Love the truck but, was hoping for better MPG! How much help would a K&N (Stock replacement) and a better muffler be?
The air filter wont help. Their arent really any mods for these engines that improve mpgs. Was that 10.5 towin on the highway? If so that is what a v-10 gets
Traffic... not so bad. I'm bummed guess I'll be using my Mazda-3 for the commute. It's fun crowding the little Hybirds that are everywhere here in microsoft land in the massive X!
Today there was a greenie in a Honda insight with a plate ISAVCO4U giving me a dirty look... I took 1/2 his lane! SO COOL!

Thats how i feel. To me the price to keep this thing filled up is worth that look
There aren't many of us with V-8's. I have a V-10 and on winter blend gas (stupid enviro nuts) I get 11-13 mixed and 12-14 Hwy. If I would do all city I get 8 to 10.
With the summer blend 10% corn crap I get city 10-11, Hwy 14-16 depending how heavy my foot gets. Towing in the summer w/9000 lbs I get 8-10 again depending on speed.
