I pull my F150 short wheel base and it weighs only 4900lbs in three clases 5800,6500,7200 stock class, being no front weights, lic and insured, same engine manufacture that came in the truck and that being a 400m. I love to pull against 460,454,500, powerstrokes, cumming. When ever i pull every body seems to think that i got a 460 or a 454 cause there no way a short wheel base should pull that way. Ive got 4 season of pulling on motor and never had to tear it down. But have replace transfer cases dana60,70, drive shaft. But never the front axle yet. 400 is got to be the best stroke motor you can get. I too run anywhere from 2500-7500rpm being my power band is in 4500 area. Fixen to retire her this year.

I guess I was wrong on the rods....From a post in the past.
Yesterday I ran across the idea of using 240-6 rods. Seems they're 6.79" long with a 2.12" rod journal. Offset grinding to that size you could get a stroke somewhere near 4.18" which would net about 427 cid with a 4.03" bore.

Matt I like that Idea! What kind of vehicle would carry that motor?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 01:36 AM (EST)]Sampsin I honestly dont know. I know it is a Ford motor that is an Inline 6. I think it may have been in the smaller Ford Ranger pickups from the 80's and possibly the Bronco II also from the 80's. The engine is not familiar to me. I am quite interested in testing out a stroker engine. I havent ever done it before I am only going on some info posted by Shazam and another guy. I think it will be a lot of fun to see what I can get. I know that this is not a tried and true stroker. However I can afford to play around a bit. My dad picked around the junkyard for many years and often brought home various blocks from the FT/FE/385/335 series and there is a truck box filled with over 2000 different rods. I also have a 70 crankshafts stacked in boxes. All this basically means is that I am going to spend my weekend sorting out parts. This is going to be so much fun I can hardly wait. :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) there is nothing more fun than working on an old ford pickup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 02:07 AM (EST)]The 240 & 300 I6 is a truck only engine. They use the same block.
240s were used from '65-'72
300s were used from '65-'91
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 02:33 AM (EST)]I posted this link a week and a half ago, about tons of 426 stroker info. I guess a few of you missed it.

For some reason there were extra characters added after it was posted.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 02:37 PM (EST)]Has anybody built this stroker 426 yet? I am very interested in going this route but I need something that is durable and tested. It seems as though it is all pie in the sky stuff right now from all the posts I have read. Doing any searches on the internet yielded no results for me.
Hey Sampsin I am going to try this stroker combination on my 400 that is sitting on the stand right now. I am sifting through a mound of rods and I have only found two so far today but alas there is always tomorrow!! I am only doing this because it seems like fun since i dont have to bore the block it should be easy to change back if I dont like it or it doesnt work right. If I find enough rods I will try to get you some, I cant guarantee anything because I don't know what is there.
