I have a 1981 F100 that has an issue with the brakes locking. I've replaced shoes, pads, wheel and master cylinder without resolving the issue. Once you get the truck moving it does OK. After sitting for a bit and restarting, the rear brakes will be frozen.
Prolly the parking brake cables, which have a history of rusting & corroding into one, solid mass. Search this forum or wait for Dave (Franklin2) he's offered some good suggestions on how to deal with it, some not too awful long ago.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the parking brake cables, but wasn't sure if they would cause this to happen. I'll have to search this forum (once I learn how). This is my 1st time on here to post a message.
your brake lines may still have air in them or even maybe clogged up might try undoing the lines from the master cylinder and blowing them out and ck your park break cable
Yes, it does sound like the parking brake cables are stuck. As you drive it, the rear brake drums get hot and expand, and relieve some of the pressure. When you stop, they cool off and lock up the brakes again.
