Window crank removal - Need Help!

I have the tool they sell from National Parts Depot, but how does it work? I can't fiqure out how to get the window crank off to replace the plastic trim panel. I did try to search this but couldn't find an article.

Thanks for any help.

I took the screw out of the crank/handle, but it wont budge. I have the tool from NPD that they said was required to remove the retaining clip, I just cant find the clip.

I'm not sure I know what they are talking about. My handle slips off and on no problem when you take out the little screw. It might just be a bit stuck on the shaft. Have you tried all sorts of ways like wiggling it back and forth, trying to loosen it up to pull off?

I tried all that, with wd-40. I even tried the other crank just to make sure I wasn't going crazy.

There is no retaining clip. Just an allen or phillips screw.

I will give it another shot of WD40 and a little more leverage.

Thanks for the advice!

Not sure what your working on but my 65 had a set screw and a "C"clip and you have to press both ends of the "C" clip up out of a grove in the handle.....ain't easy but can be done, hope that helps

Well that's a different story from our '61-64 trucks. There is no clip for these door and window handles on mine.

Arnie, what year is your truck?

Sorry, not the window crank, but the interior door opener/release.

Its a 66. Is the "c clip" on the inside of the door, or between the release handle and the face metal?

if its a c clip first i heard of on a 66. try running a rag behind the handle and shoe shine like pull the rag. c clips usually will fly off. watch ur eyes.

I use the wooden wedges you get at Home Depot, Push one in at the top and one at the bottom so they overlap. Carefully tap them togeater and the handle will come off. I suppose you could use four of these wedges but I have never had to do that. The rag trick is a new one for me but I bet it sure works for those C-clips. The window handles on our Slicks do not have clips.

LOCK TIGHT.... thats what was holding the door handle on. I had to carefully cut the old one off from the shaft with a hack saw.

I knew I wasn't going crazy.

Thanks for the help.
