Thanks for posting the paint booth pix. Very Exciting...

As you're bolting her back together, just be sure to set the wrenches down occasionally to post more great pix.

I had a new windshield and rear glass installed, then the tow truck dropped her off.

GM Opulent Blue 2018 color ? _ _ _ very Nice color. Geeze that looks Wonderful.
It is always an uphill battle getting everything 'ready' for Paint Dayz.

My '77 Crew is sitting on a '77 F-350 longbed 2wd chassis w/ a '79 D60 under the front.

Gosentite,
did the home depot 1/8" veneer bend very easily ?

And what kind of a metal strip did you use for the headliner separation joint ?

I have looked at the aluminum flooring threshold strips in Ace Hardware, but I don't wish to fill every hole with a screw. Hmmm, I'm still pondering.

The board was plenty flexible, in my opinion. I did take my time when tightening the screws, and slowly worked toward the most curved sections. Once its in though, it was good.

The center strip was purchase many years ago, and I know its a flooring transitional trim piece, and I only have 6 or 7 screws. I only cut off the rib (that the plastic snapped into) at either end of the cab, because it made a smoother radius. Cutting it all out, would leave a odd curvature, and I just wanted it to be smooth like in the front and back of the cab. The stuff I have is about an inch and a half wide, I think. Maybe just over an inch.

This is the profile, but I dont think mine is "hammered" finish. Its just smooth aluminum.

Recently been working on the carb on my 79 400. Had a 2150, it started leaking fuel. I had a edelbrock 1406 from a parts car I bought awhile back so I plopped it on there. A month later, a set of rods, a set of jets, many many cold starts I can’t get the 1406 (600 cfm) to idle or do anything with the main circuit and except surge or die. Spent a bunch of hours with a timing light and a vacuum gauge for nothing. Swapped a edelbrock 1407 (750) cfm and it runs GREAT! Whoo! I was so tired of chasing and fighting that 1406 it’s like a miracle the 1407 runs so well.

Ill be rebuilding the 2150 because that’s really what makes the most sense. I need the 750 put back on my other project car. I’ve rebuilt both edelbrocks, theres something wrong with the 1406 whether it be my fault or something else .

I added these rubber grip pads to my step bumper. Got them from evil old harbor freight for like $2 a piece. They are like 9” by 4 inches. You can see where last week I put the outside ones on, then this week I put the insides on so they are cleaner. Increased traction on the bumper 10 fold. Went from slippery to grippy. This drop bumper didn’t have and tread plate on the top surface so it was just flat chrome. Not the best from ice or rain.

Found this little tach at a garage sale, I had a 3 inch sunpro hanging from the dash near the ash tray for years. This guy blends in a lot more and the way I have it mounted only 1-6 is visible, I like that more than 1-8. The smaller one also goes by 200 rpm increments where as the big sunpro has like every 50 rpm. So just less complicated and more factory looking. At night with the lights on and the green back light it looks really close to factory. I’ll paint the back side of it a semi gloss black soon.

PhoneMann,
Your pickup is looking factory-fresh.

I CAN NOT WAIT to paint mine. Need some minor body touch ups, as I did most of the body work years ago, and just primed it.

This is making me itch. I went through the painters apprenticeship here in Vegas, and have sprayed everything you can name. Going to do it myself. I have sprayed several vehicles, not even in booths and have gotten really good results. It helps that its the desert, so bugs arent a big concern. Its primarily dust, so I usually wet down an area about 5 feet in any direction away from the vehicle, including the street where cars might be driving by.

You got me planning mine.
