I know that the position and wiper function is different between the 53-55 verses the 56, but what is different between the motors that run them or is it just the linkage? Do the motors run the same? I'm talking electric not vacume.
I have a 56 electric wiper motor in my 53 as the truck is 12V. The linkage is obviously different as is the arm that bolts to the motor but the motor was a bolt in to the 53 electric mount.
Thanks , that's what I was wondering. I contacted a vendor I think it was Newport technologies, they only have 53-55 wiper motors but not 56 I was wondering what the difference was, I may have to contact them again.
Hey man, do you have electric wipers now? If not, you'll have to have the "clevis" to change from vacuum to electric. I dont know if youre looking for a change over kit, but if you are. The one made by specialty power windows is the best. (I think that's the name) they come with new cowl pivots, and a motor that you put in either kick panel. It runs an aluminum tube with a worm cable through it and you can calibrate it to the correct sweep you want. The only thing I'd advise you to do is to NOT use the arms they sell for them. Mine fell off on the way to the Supernats last year while pouring down raining!! I got some N.O.S. ones from our president of our truck club(Tri-State F100's) The ones I got are for a '57Ford car.
Right now I have the vacum unit that was in my panel originally but do have an electric motor that is in the f600 cab that I was planning on using on the titled f100 pickup, when and if ever I finish my panel. I will look into the unit you are talking about, I know that some one else on here had posted pictures of thier install awhile back just can't remember who. This is just one of a few things I have to consider this year, thanks for the input.
