You are joking, right? Do they even make a "box" for the powerstroke? There web presence barely works at all, but what does work shows nothing but small cars.
Got links?
Bill
actually VA does make psd boxes, but no one uses them..
SCT SCT SCT SCT SCT i've tried the rest, and now i use the best ! ! !
My truck has the Banks Six Gun Sytem on it and I am sure I will get flamed. This is just my opinion if you set the level on any tuner as high as it will go and you beat the crap out of your truck it will break. I leave mine on level 1 and its been that way for 52,000 miles. Its been towed with and driven cross country twice by the previous owner. The truck is only as dependable as the person is that drives and maintains it. Myself I would never have spent the $$ that the guy before me did on the add ons this guy did. Complet Banks six gun, 5" turbo back exhaust, Engine Brake, Deep sump trans pan, Deep sump rear diff cover, Air bags in the rear, etc. etc. etc. He does this to every truck he buys, he trades them every 2 years, he maintains the meticulously. I hope that I have many good years with this truck. I dont intend on beating it and turning the tuner all the way up and seeing how fast it will go...It a truck and I mainly use it for the guages.
Hey, I got a VA and it works great for what i want it to do, 105hp gain, lots a power, smoke, whistle, fun, no over boost, seems like a safe/cheap HP boost for me. I havent tried anything else yet but that doesnt mean it doesnt do its job for the money.
for me personally, i'm all about being at the front of the HP wars, and that means there is NO OPTION but sct FOR ME...
big turbo, big sticks, big converter, sct is the only way to tune my truck to do what it does ... but i'm not doing what the average PSD owner is doing either.
just picked up my van aaken for all the same reasons you mentioned. Sct is awesome but for what I need I will try the VA. If not happy then SCT will be for me. I know people that have used tehm in other cars/trucks and all liked the VA so I thought I woul dgive it a go. Extra hp and mpg's but still in the safe range.
I just did a closer look at the truck. It has a BD Engine Brake, and a BD Torque Converter Pressure Controller. I will see how all this works and if I dont like it I will have to remove it all and do some research from here. I had an Edge on my 04 and if you didnt pay attention to that you could kill the engine quick. As soon as I find a battery for the PDA I will be able to use the Banks system to see what it can do. I am trying to find a Manual online for it so I can have some instructions. I can only find a PDF file for a Dodge application. Anyone have a link...its the six gun with the PDA.
NRSJR - did you get an OSASIS report on your truck? If so, what did it say? If you posted this previously, sorry - I did not see it. 4x4mark's advice of checking for any/all underlying problems before getting a tuner is "spot on". Getting the gauges first (before the tuner) and getting to know your truck is a wise thing to do also (good post Deluxe05).
no doubt get as far from banks and possible. Sct all the way. out of the three you mentioned sct is the only one that you can talk to someone and they will send you a custom made tune just for what you want. I used to have banks then switched to sct. Check this thread out it will help with your decision. http://www.FTEs diesel forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53003&highlight=switched+from+ban ks
Brentos - please repost your link. I can not seem to get it to work.
I am not ever going to go crazy with a tuner. If i don't like the van aaken module I will just keep it stock but woul dstill like to get a boost gauge and egt gauge. I was looking at the 2 gauge pillar pod on diesel site. It seemed like an easy install and would be out of the way. Are there better gauge brands than others price quality etc???
If there is apost somewhere for this I will feel free to point me there not trying to be redundant just short on time today so thought I would ask.
i am currently using ISSPRO gauges, they are just about a perfect match for my 04 interior, especially when using green LED bulbs in them !!
autometer just came out with a new series this year that is also a perfect match for the 04 style dash. .it's called the GS series and i am going to be replacing all mine with these now.

Don't know if you're aware of this but Van Aaken went out of business.
