I have a 1988 F-150/w a 351W 4x4 Automatic, Lock in Hubs. This truck is Fuel Injected. I want to get rid of the EFI,and have a Carburator. I know I have to get rid of the fuel pumps and get a mechanical fuel pump. My question is, is there a spot on the EFI motor that a mechanical Fuel pump will bolt to? All in all I was hoping to just change the Intake. Thanks in advance
You dont have to get rid of the fuel pumps, you just have to get a fuel presure regulator for a carb (6-9 PSI). they go for around $100 in summit. I am wondering what Auto trans you have? in 88 I think they were not Electronic?
after the FPR, you obviously will need an intake and carb, but you will also need some type of ignition, as your stock SD ignition wont run correctly.
The '88 probably has a dual stage pump system, a low pressure pump in the tank and a high pressure pump on the frame rail. All you need to do is remove the high pressure pump.
