Trouble Starting?

Morning everyone, Quick question....My Uncle has a 2002 F-150 4x2 with the 4.6 V-8. Has just under 90K on it. When he goes to start it, it acts like its not getting any gas. Kind of like a studder in the engine then it turns over and runs fine. No engine light at all and no complaints of anything abnormal outside of the turning over issue. I am wondering what are some things we can try checking or cleaning to save some $$ at a shop or possibly getting taken by a shop?

Could be that it is not getting enough air past the closed throttle plate. If you crack the throttle open a bit when starting does it improve the starting? If so, then clean the IAC valve. Good luck!

Kingranchman02...I forwarded this link to him...he tried what you said and it fired right up. He's taking it in to get serviced and just adding the IAC to the list. On top of that he replied and said he didnt know of this site and is definatly going to use it from now on so 1 more FTE user. Thanks again.

I had a very similar problem. The IAC valve was the culprit.
