Gauges & Computer

All, just picked up a '95 F250 4x4 7.3L for a great price. 140K on the motor, 10 miles on the rebuilt transmission. Truck just passed emissions with flying colors, better levels than last year. Great looker and runner. However, it has idiot gauges that tell me nothing about this 7.3L under the hood. What computer/gauges does everyone recommend? Looking for great combo under $400.

My line up includes Pyrometer, boost, trans temp, oil pressure, coolant temp and soon thanks to Bill I will be adding an oil temp sender and using a switch with my coolant temp gauge to make it watch both. I have a voltmeter built into my trailer brake controller.

TJ.... I wish I would have thought about the oil/water temp combo before I bought my oil temp gauge.

I'm running autometer aswell.

TJ, where did you tap into for your oil temp?

I haven't done the oil temp yet. That was MADVAN's idea. I am not sure where I am gonna tap into. It will probably be down by the oil filter but I already have 1 T running there for my oil pressure and bypass filter. Not sure I have room or want that much brass hanging there! I might do mine up at the HPOP reservior but that will be a little tricky as well with odd fittings.

Do you have a picture as to which hole you plumbed in your psi and temp? IIRC its the empty one on the filter housing? I think?

Farm I can't get into my webshots right now but click the pic link in my sig and find the "PSD locations" album. There is a pic in there of the oil filter area. I have the pressure port labeled but it is before I added the pressure sending unit so it just has the bypass line there. Its also 1/8 inch pipe thread not 1/4 like I have it labeled.
