I am looking at buying a early 80,s 3/4 ton pickup. it has a 4barrel 351 in it.I have not seen the truck yet but i'm curious as to which 351 it is? can anybody tell me what engines came in these trucks 1980-1983 I think . Martin
Should be a 351M in those years. But if it's got a 4 bbl and it is, it would most likely be an aftermarket intake. There are rumors of a 4 bbl factory 351M/400, but one has yet to come to light. I've seen one 4 bbl factory 400 in a junkyard in the mid 70's, wish I'd have known then how rare it was. In any case, some one could have just as likely put a 351W in a 302 truck too. Look at the valve cover bolts, the Cleveland has 8 bolt covers, the 302/351W have 6 bolts. Fuel pump bolts are vertical on the Clevelands & 315M/400's where all others are horizontal. Thermostat housing is also bolted to the front of the block on the 351C/351M/400, instead of the intake manifold.
This is a railroad truck so i'm almost positive that it is stock as the day that it was purchased, going to pick it up next week so I guess i'll find out then what it is. Its to cheap to let get away and a small block will be alot more rational in my 68.

After a 350 mi. trip one way! My question is answered it's a 351W factory 4brl. in a 1986 3/4 ton truck. I think this will be a really sweet eng. for my 68 bumpside with a C6 behind it. Thanks for the input . Martin
