Thinking of cutting down the front bumper and fitting it tight to the fenders... mayber even cut the fenders so it is sort of frenched in... either that or do a front roll pan like the back... amd maybe just add some tube push bars/nerf bumperettes...
Anyone know of any out there done like this? pictures?
Sawsall, you can remove the front bumper and smooth it up and then take your chance that you or someone else won't bump the front end. I'm a little partial to preserving all of the body work that has gone into my truck so I prefer to use the bumper for its intended use. I once saw a guy with a gorgeous '40 Ford Coupe misjudge where he was in relation to another hot rod at an all ford pinic a couple of years ago and he trashed his nice new chrome grill and some of the paint on one of the fenders. the other vehicle came out of it a whole lot better because he had a bumper. Just my preference, Steve
Yep, I've considered that... But, this isn't a show boat... and I do plan on using the bumper, just shortening it and fitting it tighter... Or a roll pan and stainless tube bumper/nerfs... Just want to clean it up... and minimalize it...
I'll more than likely use the stock bumper cut down narrower to fit the width of the fenders so it doesn't stick out... then recess it back into the fender leaving a slight gap... That way, it is still a bumper but it will be as clean as possible...Anyone know of any out there done this way?
Cut the bumper on either side of the licence plate recesss, this way you dont narrow the plate mounting area. Steve Syzmanski (Industrial Chassis) has a custom fitted bumper on his green and silver monster. A feature truck in Classic trucks a few years back.
If using the stock bumper you are better off due to the correct profile. The repops do not have the same outter profile.
TRUCKS on Speed TV did it on there "COPPERHEAD" truck a couple years back looked good and was a nice tight fit...if you log on to there web site they have all the work done on that truck.....but it was a CH##Y
