Hi I have a 97 f 250 5.4 4 wheel drive and ifs .....already cranked torsion a little but I was wondering if I could put air adjustable shocks all the way around to get like another inch or two of lift.....not talking about the new air shocks but the old school ones that you fill up yourself?
a buddy of mind had them on his chevy with about 10 inches of lift total (susp, body, etc) and all the dang time he was having to replace them cause they were always leaking air.. finally when to a solid monotube shock and never dealt with then again.
i know you were looking for additional lift but just commenting about the leaking factor
You could do it but I wouldn't recommend it. They will adversely effect the handling of your truck. I have had them on several vehicles in the past. I used to have them on my 1967 mustang, but they were so stiff that every time I hit a bump the entire rear end would jump to the side. I also had them on a 2wd F-100 to lift the rear. I hit a bump one time that over extended the shock and bent it into an "L" shape. I had to order a new one and the truck rode pretty rough for the week I had to wait. I still have a set on my 1979 Capri, but I dont put any air in them unless I'm hauling a ton of groceries in it. The ride height is fine, but when I put weight in the back, the rear fenders will occasionaly bite the tires without a little bit of air. Also consider the shock mounting points weren't meant to support a load, merely to retain your shocks.
