Manual column to manual column will swap and You can use a new column if that's all You can find I used the column out of the 78 parts truck and if I find a tilting column later I'm going to do that.

Don't know if it makes any difference, but the power steering is shorter out in the engine bay. I don't know if you can easily transfer that into the cab or not.

I would love to have my wheel about 3" further away just for comfort.

You can always cut one down to your liking. There is a How To shorten a manual to power in the Articles on this site. But in you case you will need to take the section out between the dash mount and wheel. Since you have floor shift you only have the outer tube and main shaft. This does require some good welding skills, so if needed take it to a good shop.

You don't have to worry about that. Just cut all 3 tubes the same length. The shift tube has a seam weld so it's easy to keep alignment. Use a scribe and mark the shaft, a little off is ok, but it must be straight. Or order a custom Idid-it column, they will build any thing you want including tilt and retractable ones. That way you will have you HAZ on the column, too.
