how do i???

OK this may be a weird question. But, i am looking at buying a truck that has a tuner on it. The truck has the edge tuner mounted onto the a pillar. I also ran an oasis report which showed that the truck has been in for warranty work.Nothing engine internal wise just a glow plug replacement but im asking for future reference. How do i find out if the truck has been blacklisted for being warrantied through ford. since the tuner is mounted in an a-pillar pod i doubt the guy removed it before taking the truck in. i will be pulling the tuner off as soon as i purchase it. i dont wanna pay for a truck and have ford reject it if something does go wrong. is there a way to find this out???

this may not work, but what about just taking the VIN down to a trusted Ford dealership, talk to a Service Manager, explain your situation, and see if he can look up the info in the computer system. If it is blacklisted, I would think it would show up on his computer.
Then if you want to go one step further, assuming its not blacklisted, get something in writing from that Service Manager, and have him sign it. Then you ahve an actual document in your hand in case something happens.

This is a link to the Oasis thread in the 6.o section.Click here Oasis Request Thread

An oasis is a service history report of your truck. It will tell you everything that has been done to the truck at the dealer. Post the vin # and some one will email you an oasis report. It is a realy good idea to run this report. I didn't find out about it untill after I bought my truck. Luckly My truck has a good report.

Also with an edge tuner I would probably keep looking. They have been known to be verry bad for these trucks.

I already have had an oasis report run. Im thinking i may do that just go down and talk to a guy at ford. im just wanting to make sure that the warranty has not been voided in any way before i purchase the truck. i was just trying to find out if maybe it would show a record of a tuner on the oasis report. something along the lines of (cust states vehicles is hard to start alos noted vehicles has such and such tuning device) i have no intentions of keeping the tuner on the vehicle either. if i do ever go with a tuner it will be either sct with a spartan or dp tune.

I have the edge juice w/ attitude and evoloution programmer urs is the juice attitude combo sounds like, anyways I had a couple of problems that had to be covered under warranty and ford never even mentioned my chips but every dealership is different. The edge hasnt caused my truck any problems its actually supposed to be pretty good about not damaging your motor it will back down if the motor is being over worked or egt's are getting to hi and it also provides a nice way to monitor everything.

Also I dont think they could actually completely blacklist your truck for having a chip they have to be able to prove that the aftermarket part is what caused the actual problem that they are correcting all though I m sure they will work that to thei own advantage.

well from what i read is that if you take the truck in for work and there is a problem and you have a tuner you can be blacklisted. i just dont want o chance that. Ive done everything else so far oasis car fax and everything checks out. just want to make sure about the tuner before hand.

My 05 was tuned prior to my purchasing it and the dealer knew about it. They still honored the 100k warranty and will do so if they want a sale.
