Headers may help HP, for mpg the best bet is to slow down and drive like grandma. Don't use your brakes, lift and coast longer.
Engine wise, making sure it's running right is about all you can do without serious money and effort. And even then, it's a 460. It will never be easy on gas.
What tire, trans & gear are you running? All those things effect mpgs. Skinny tires, manual or OD automatic, and tall gears are your mpg friends.
