Even before the seal lined up in the hole it was hard to go in. I mean it took everything I had to get that sucker in like it was a spring pushing against it or something. To be honest I dont think the old one was bad because it didnt have the symptoms that you guys talked about but I'll get another tomorrow as a final straw before I go to alternatives.
You know i bet thats it. I think the mod I put in was different. I noticed the shape was off a little when I put it in but I figured it was just a brand thing. Anywho I just walked outside and picked the old one up off the ground and realized the part that goes into the transmission is different. The one I bought Had a different type of hole that the pin slid into.Basically the old one, or the right on has a deeper hole for the pin to slide down into and the one I put in only has a shallow hole for the pin to go into. Ouch I hope I havnt bent the pin inside the tranny or done something else! Maybe it'll be okay, I'll go get another one in the morning.
Okay I rolled around on the ground this morning and put the old mod back on. Wow it was cold out! Still the same thing So I guess its something internal. Im gonna talk with mechanics tomorrow and see what its gonna cost to fix it,If not what kinda work would It be to replace the auto with a np435. I have one out of a f250 that was bolted to a 460, not sure it its a 460 bellhousing or 351/400 though. I also have the pedals and everything but its still in the cab. How hard is it to get the pedals out? This truck was originally a 4 speed with a 300 i-6. I also have a ZF5 lying around and I've read what is involved in the swap but at the moment in not really in the mood to do that swap but just out of curiousity would a 460 with a zf5 from a diesel be a total dog cuz i know they bolt right up but are geared different.
