hey guys just picked me up a 72 F100 LWB w/ a 240 inline 3 speed floor conversion virtually rust free, need new hood supports or inner fender whichever you wanna call it. guy wanted $600 as i was looking at it told him i would like to drive it a bit and he said how bout $400 as it is? i know it runs. drives, stops and steers. so i said deal didnt even have to try to talk him lower.
will have some pic tomorrow as i need to get it rollbacked here since it isnt inspected to tagged, he has owned it since 88 and used it to haul firewood in a few miles here and there.
put it this way it was driven 13 miles since 1988, has new fuel tank, lines, brakes, master cylinder, brake lines. it is in really good shape gotta love these nice old men who keep their trucks in good shape.
he is also restoring a 72 F??? 4x4 with a 302 so he is a ford guy as well.
also he said something along the lines of using 78-79 hood supports in place of the 67-72 style cause they will bolt right up and are less prone to rust out. doubtfull they will but does anyone know?
Congrats on the new ride!
I don`t know all the ins and outs of using 78-79 inner fenders other that they will fit but the hood hinges from the 67-72 won`t work with them.
Hopefully someone will jump in and explain the rest.
You could MAKE them work but what I saw first was the hood hinges and threaded holes for the hinges are on the wrong side of the support. After that I think You wouldn't have a tough time making them work. I used a 78 radiator support.
