About four days ago my step son buried his four wheel F150 in a clay pit. He called me at four in the morning. He had three trucks hooked to his and it wouldnt budge. (four wheel Chev, two wheel duelly Chev and two wheel fronteer.) Hooked mine up and yanked about ten times and out it came. If it would have been during the day, I would've got a pic. I was surprized my new tires pulled so hard. Although they are 38's, there more of a street tred. The only damage was the three trucks ripped off one of his tow shackles. My son's truck is nice, but its got those big dress wheels and street tires. Not much good in the clay pit. LOL
Good deal! Had to have a ford show em up. Last thing i would do is ask a chevy for help saying they get stuck everywhere they go, let alone a fronteer lol. Yea street tires are not idea for boggin lol haha. Good job man!
This is a time to say something about safety!! A shovel, a heavy blanket and a bit of
old elbow grease can make the pull alot safer!! Dig the front of the tires out so at least any thick mud solid ground is out of the way and gives a bit of a ramp and a bit
of free run room, A heavy blanket to go over your chain/strap, Always have a bit of
1/2" chain that connects the left and right tow hooks so you can pull on the frame
evenly and from the center so you don't end up with a truck the dog walks because
the frame isn't parallel anymore!! A come along and a block system will get just about
anything out sure it takes longer but usually no damage to the frame or driveline be
sure to put a blanket on the recovery line with any method.
Yea, what they did before I got there was to hook the straps through both shackles in a way that when they yanked, it was pulling the shackles together. I have to admit these (stock)shackles were bolted right on the frame. Ford did something right. I wish my Bronco had that setup. But nothing was going to take that abuse. When I towed him out, I pulled him back instead of forward using our trailer *****. (they are both frame mounts)
