I have a 390 FE with C6 transmission. I am in the process of mating the transmission/engine and prior to doing so decided to purchase a new flexplate from Autozone. When I received the flexplate it did not come with a load-spreader ring (aka - flexplate reinforcement ring). Do I need to use a load-spreader ring since it did not come with the flexplate? If I need to use a load-spreader ring, where can I get one (part #)? Your expertise and advice is much appreciated.
If you can't find one for the FE, search for a part # for a 460. The only parts I've heard of that will interchange between the series are flywheel and flexplate.
Just so everyone knows, in very rare instances, and very rare circumstances, for very rare parts, the "no selling" guideline can be loosened for certain things.
