has anybody, had a block cleaned and bored lately, if so what did you pay?

I just found yall at just at the right time, I just started rebuilding my 460. any help would be great. I just bought Tom Monreo book on ford 385 big blocks.

The last engine I had done was $195. This included:

Vatting
Cam Bearings
Boring
Pressing Pistons To Rods
Brass Freeze Plugs

The vatting is usually done as part of the whole job, so it is usually free or they just do it anyway. The only thing about this is that the freeze plug have to be removed to vat the block and the cam bearings can't be left in. This means you have to get new bearings and you might as well have them put in the freeze plugs- doing it yourself may only save ten bucks or so.
What I mean by all this is that the price to bore the block was $10 per hole or $80. The rest of the stuff has to be done and it adds up quick. Another thing: these prices are for my area and I don't know if there is an industry standard. Down here I think stuff like that is cheaper mainly because we have some of the cheapest labor in the US.

Hope this at least gives you an idea.

 

I paid $250 for machining with similar goodies.
