We purchased a 2008, 350, Lariat, long bed, dualley, 373 rear end about 3 months ago. We only have 2,000 miles on it, and it really has been a great truck so far.
When we picked it up at the dealers, it was in pristine condition, and it still is. So far there have been no cosmetic or mechanical issues. We have driven in towns and on interstates. The ride is excellent. We purchased many options, but the one most important is the "wide track" option. This takes the turning radius from 56' to 49'. When I am in a tight spot and turn the wheel I am still amazed on hw I think I can't possibly turn the wheel anymore, but I can. The steering is not as fast as my previous 2500 Chevy, and the wheel does not return on it's own as quick, but I got used to it.
My one, and only one issue is mileage is that I am only getting mid 12's mpg. When I caculated it strictly on interstate, it was low 14's. I know that it isn't broken in yet, and it is the winter, but I sure hope that it improves.
And this is why i started this thread, is it not great to see all the people who love these 6.4's?! and not say o mines doin this and that. its good to have happy threads! Keep em comin guys!
As I mentioned earlier, I am very happy. I now am posting for a friend of mine and he too said he could'nt be happier (except for the mileage). Nice to see soo many people happy with their truck. For a while there I thought it was tabboo to say anything good about your rig. Just hope the few (in the big picture of things)that are having problems get them ironed out.
First, thanks to all of you who purchased the 2008 SD and informed the rest of us so we could make great decisions. After months of daily reading your threads I just purchased my husband (and myself) a new 2008 F350 crewcab Lariat. Yes, the girl did the buy as my husband would have had the blood rush away from his brain during the process and we would have been in trouble. I was able to get the x-plan price +$3000 in rebates. We love this beautiful truck although we only have 288 miles on it. Got a new spray-on bedliner yesterday, and taking our first trip this weekend. Our truck has most options except navigation and tailgate step. We have the static rear camera (husband thought that was too excessive but now loves it and thinks it was his great idea). Having his wife buy an overly optioned truck is actually his fault- he proposed to and married a certified "car-nut"!! All joking aside, he is tickled that his truck is over-optioned, he just didn't want to see the sticker price and write the checks! Thanks again, We love this truck!!! Louise
My F-250 was built Jan '08. I now have 700 miles, I know it's early but everything about it has been great . On my 1st tank of fuel the computer said 13.2 and I hand calculated
14.1mpg. That was about 1/3 highway and the rest city and country roads. Awesome so far.
Brian
still on the first tank til the weekend and we will go on a 600 mile trip, our computer says 13.5 so far. and most folks say that will improve, but if not we still love this truck.
