460 + blower???
>but what blower is best
>for a s460 stroked to
>520??
You'll need a "Roots" style like a B&M or Weiand. Size to get 1,000 HP will need to be an "8-71" or larger. You'll need to run alcohol since the boost will be pretty high to achieve 1,000 HP. Expect to spend in excess of $15,000 for your engine/blower setup.
what should the comp
>ratio be built at??
Don't exceed 7.5 to 1 on compression.
>trickflow did this build minus
>the blower and a
>12 to 1 cr and
>came up to 752 hp
>at around 6500 i believe
> id like to do
>about the same but with
>the blower and shoot
>for 1000 hp.
this
>motor is going to end
>up in a 1967 cougar
You'll never get the power to the ground unless you build a Prostock style chassis. Better have another $25,000-50,000 in the bank account.
>but if it works out
>well im gonna build one
>for my 1974 f250.
> any help would be
>great.

To run competitively in a monster truck you need around 1200 horsepower and he runs very competitively. He's been turning the engine around 7000 Rpm and it sure seems to have trememdous torque leaving the starting line at about 4000 rpm. It's really a very mild combination that's very easy to tune, we use 36 degrees timing and it makes around 10lbs of boost with the blower 10% overdriven. I've also got the block o ringed and hardblocked to the bottom of the water pump holes. We're using Clark dead soft copper head gaskets with no problems. ARP studs hold the heads down too.
I don't remember the exact cam figures, but I think it's about 276/284 at .050 with .690 lift on 112 lobe seps, in at 108 intake centerline.
The only problems we've had have been oiling system related because of the wild ride of a monster truck, I feel that a dry sump is in the near future! We generally run about 110lbs of oil pressure with 50wt Valvoline oil. Why 50 wt? The alky thins out the oil so much it's necessary. We have a heater on the pan to help get the temp up before he fires the engine.
Check out the pictures at bigdawg4x4.com In a few of them you can see the top of the injector hat from the rear of the truck! This thing really gets with it!
