DaJudge51 (Larry) & I tour two local yards up in Kentucky (outside Elkton)today, both yards 10(x) better than our towns. Came across the second yard with atleast 20 to 30 73-79 models. Very impress with owners passion with trucks verses cars. His trucks where organize by make & all his cars where in the back of the yard. Trucks where up front and easy access. Plan on taking Tatonka04 (Chuck) there to find some odd end parts for his two builds in acouple weeks.
Theres a yard like that up here in NH guy probably has about 15,but some are real picked.Sounds like the owner of the yard u visted has his ***** together. How is he on pricing though. EXPENSIVE??
78f250, what part of NH are you from? I originally hailed from the New London area? The reason I ask is because my brother still lives there, and if it's a good junkyard, I'll just have him go check it out for me.
Hey Mitch, did you guys check one out today without me? I'm just messing with ya, I had a stupid Dr's appointment anyhow. Did you find anything that I might be looking for?
Chuck; it was a jump in the truck lets find these yards; I still plan on going again on the 20th. The second yard had several 4x4 to include a possible oil pan for your 78/72 conversion. (can't remeber which one you need, this one was a rear sump type i beleive). His prices seem reasonable, I only bought some cosmetic items like headliner chrome trim, seat back covers. We only conducted a hasty recon of both yards,
The coolest thing he has is he converted a super cab into a four door plus super cab. I hope to remember to take the digitial when we go to take some pic's of this 4dr super cab conversion.
That's one of the reason I want to take pic's; I'll try and post it on a new thread later this month. The guy has the cab all primer and in his garage ( all clean & dry); he told me he has the bed & front end as well. I seen several folks here talk about doing a project like this and hopefully either he'll sell or atleast we'll have some pic's. I left him the web site for future reference; and he seem more FORD ordinate than any other make. Especially truck sled pulls & 4X4's.
hey customcab, if yoyur ever in columbia, check out stoneys. its been a few months since i've been, but he had 10 to 15 73 to 79's. his prices were good too. i bought a bunch of stuff like a delay setup for the cheap.
Scott; the above mention yards are on the west side of Elkton KY, on old hwy 68 west. Their about 3/4 mile apart. If your on 68/80 from Russelville towards Hopkinsville, just past Elkton they are on your left. Here's the names Clifton's Auto Sales & Fowler Brothers. Both yardare super nice; The 1st one mention you can drive thru on good gravel roads; we where in a 05 Chrysler 300 if thats explain's the level of road way. The second yard mention is the one with alot of Ford trucks. We'll visit again later this month.
Rusty; I plan on going south of I40 towards Savannh Tn looking, so Columbia might be on the same trip.
