5lug conversion to 8lug

Hey does anyone know if u can buy a converter that will go from a 5 lug pattern to an 8 lug pattern... I know there is a conversion for 8 to 10.
If anyone wants to know why i'm looking for this setup, is because i'm getting some free tires, that actually go on a the army hummers, wheels and tires for cheeeeeeepppp but the wheels are 8 lug... please help

You could swap to 8 lug axles.

The front is easy, but there's no easy way to get 8 lugs on the rear.

Also make sure that it's a 8 x 6.5 pattern, not a metric pattern. Then you're just screwed.

I believe you can get a conversion/spacer ring to convert every posibility. The only problem is when you go smaller (from 8 to 5), sometines the brake parts wont fit in the new wheel. of course that is not the case for you.

My advice is never to run wheel adapters. They increase the stress on your lugs and can cause failure.

I think the stress on the lugs is the same for the same offset. Example, if I run ten inch wide wheels (the extra two inches is all to the outside) or eight inch wheels and 2" spacers, the stress is the same. Now if the wheel adapter is of poor quility, it may brake, but not the lugs/studs.

i would say if he swaps the front d44 ends for 8 lug ends he should just go with a 3/4 or 1 ton rear axle

That would be the profered route. But that would be a whole lot more work and money than adapters.

Adapters will also change the backspacing/offset, and unless you have no or very little fenders, you wold need to compensate for that by using a wheel that has more BS.

The only practical way is an 8 lug rear and 8 lug D44 ends for the front.

BTW, does the 8 lug D44 comes with bigger brakes than the 5 lug one?

It really doesnt matter which way he goes, he has to clear his fenders. Probubly with a 4" lift. But the back spacing is only going to change about an inch with adapters. I'm running wheels that are 7" wider than stock and I dont hit my fenders. That whole 7" goes to the outside. The bigger diff is always nice, but there is no real problem with the adapters.

i have 31x11.50x15 on it right now and the wheels are 15x10 i beleive, i'm not worried about having to lift it because the tires i'm trying to put under it will be 37 army tires and wheels so a lift is in the works for sure
