Fuel pressure

I have an '86 F250 4x4 with a 6.9, AT ... I was wondering what fuel pressure was optimum for this engine ... I am thinking about changing out the tanks for increased capacity and might as wel slip in new electric pumps as well ... With the plethora of pumps on the market and such a wide range of operation pressures and pressure regulators I want to make sure to get something that works ... I figure I can always regulate it DOWN but I would hate to starve the engine ...

6 to 8 lbs will be plenty.

Volumn would actually be the important figure though. It doesn't require a whole lot though.

So I would be fairly safe with a max 16 psi pump with the highest volume I can get and dial it in with a seperate regulator?

Be careful putting to much pressure on these pumps. They don't like it. You can foam the fuel jamming to much at the pump and filter.

be careful not to be too low I had a Purolator 5psi 33gph pump on mine & she would starve for fuel pulling my TT, go with a Holley style red pump I got mine from pro comp for under $50.

Was thinking of having a 4-6 psi, 60 gph put intank at the factory when I replace existing tanks with a new long range fuel cell ... Should hold around 60-75 gallons ...

Just looked at Holley site ...
The red and the blue are suggested for gas and carbs only ...

There has to be a diesel injection model somewhere ...
