2002 Explorer Sport Trac Brake Lights
Ok I know that the head lights have a built-in circuit breakers in the head light switch, well at least my 93 Explorer did. Does anyone know if the brake lights have these as well?
I was pulled over the other day and issued a "get it fixed" notice by the local police. They have given me 10 days to fix this before they issue me a fine. I just don't understand why my brake lights work some times but not others.
I don't believe that there is a short in the circuit anywhere being that this is a 2002 but I could be wrong.
Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions before I have to take this thing to the dearler/shop?

Just had a chance to look at the vehicle wiring schematic, the answer is, no.
HOT full time to,
fuse #13, Lt Grn to,
Brake switch to,
Lt Grn junction/split
Lt Grn direct fuse #2, Dk Grn to Hi mount Brake light, body ground (Bk) You report this light works
Lt Grn direct to rear stop lights, body ground (Bk)
Use a VOM, check for 12vdc at rear bulbs with brake applied,
if power look for bad ground.
If no power, probe Lt Grn wire towards Brake switch
Good luck, happy hunting...... P
