I am the lucky?? owner of a 2000 X with the california motor and all the crap to go with it. I recently got the SES light and am pulling the codes for the #2, #4, #6, and #8 glow plug fault. I went to check the GPR the old fashion way (screwdriver accross the two large post) when I found I had a MODULE and not a regulator (seliniod) like most of my PSD brethren.
Does anyone know how to tell if it is the module that is bad or did 4 GP's go bad at the same time?? (funny coincidence)
I hate to buy a GP module (at $140) if I dont have to.
Thanks for any help in advance
Robin beat me to it. Everything on one bank failing sounds like a wiring or GPCM issue. Check the connectors on the wiring harness and check for power on that bank with a multi meter as soon as the key is turned on.
i too have an X and i did find out that ALL Excursions are California code, not just ours. I thought i was the anomaly as well. Good luck with the GPCM and harness. let us know what you find.
I wonder if it'd be possible to replace the GPCM with a plain old GPR. I suppose it'd throw the computer off, but I wonder if tuning or some sort of wiring bypass would work, to keep it from setting an SES light.
