i have an 00 f350 diesel dually. the dome, cargo and courtesty lights wont come on when you open any door. i changed the 10A #14 fuse and the relay that control the interior lights. Bulbs aren't blown. Need direction as to what to check next to figure out problem. There aren't any leaks in cab from windhsield that I am aware of to get the fuse box wet.
The GEM module is what controls that relay you replaced. And all the door switches go to the GEM module. The GEM module is a pretty good sized box under the dash. It looks like it's to the left of the brake pedal, up under the dash.
Does the GEM module control anything else besides the interior light relay? If so, what else does it control and how long before other items start to go out. The #1 relay does have power going to it.
Module Controlled Functions
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
NOTE: Upon installation of a new GEM, the module must be reconfigured. For additional information, refer to Section 418-01 .
The generic electronic module (GEM) is the only multi-function module on this vehicle.
The GEM constantly monitors its subsystems for concerns. If a concern is found in one of the subsystems, the GEM will record the concern in the form of a diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
The ignition switch position is very important to the GEM function. Often times, erratic or unexpected GEM function can be traced to problems with these GEM inputs.
The GEM controls a variety of systems:
4-wheel drive functions
front and rear interval wiper/washer
warning chimes
keyless entry
interior and exterior lamps
power windows
From the above out of the manual, it looks like even if you replaced the GEM module, you would have to take it to a dealer to get it programmed.
