Question Grab Handle on Driver's Side

I was wondering if anyone has added a grab handle to the driver's side pillar like the one on the passenger side. I have a tendency to use the steering wheel for a little extra help when getting in the x. A handle on the pillar would be alot less strain on the steering column. Any pics or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2002 X, V10, 4X4 Limited.

Thanks,
mprince

Welcome Bill!

I tell ya, havin' that grab bar on the driver's side is great! I'm always looking for it when I drive my wife's Chevy...of course it doesn't have one.

No, it wasn't until 03 I think that the driver's side grab rail was put on. Same as the Super Duty.

I hate to resurrect an old thread but I had some questions about this mod. It looks like the front grab handle on my 2000 is directional and flipping it over to put it on the other side would be off somewhat. (I know it probably wouldn't even be noticed by anyone else but I still get bugged that there is a dimple half the size of a pencil eraser in the vinyl flooring I put down in my bathroom. Yes I know what the term is to describe this pathetic condition...).
Are the handles really that different from a 2000 compared to a 2003> ? Would a left and right 2003> work in place of the existing right hand for my 2000 or am I going to forever be seeing that the "new" 2000 handle is just a hair different? Or am I just seeing things and should just take a valium, do the mod, and try to relax or maybe try to solve the World Peace thing?

Search the Super Duty forum for grab handle and you'll turn up a number of threads. Look for the user abendx. He did it years ago and used the right side flipped over. He's got a tuturial written down, too. I don't think you'll see much difference.

If your obseesion to just too much for ya. then go get a pair of 03+ handles and mount 'em up.
