Well im sure this is going to go over like a fart in church but here it is. Can i drill new centerpin holes in a spring pack? Like i found a lift kit for an 80-96 F-250 but the center pin location is different than a 73-79 model. Springs are also a tad shorter but i can move the shackle mount a lil further. Any ideas? Is is this plain stupid?
Well from what ive always been told metal will not break if the hole is perfectly round. But in saying this i know that leafs srprings are a completely different animal.
Yeah i know about the sd springs. The kit i found is on a truck. Its an 88 with a 460/zf 5 spd. Has new cooper 35s and alum wheels. I want the fuel injection setup and the tranny adn wheel tire combo but for the price id like to be able to use the lift also.

That sounds like something a certain member of this site would tell you. WRONG....Ive personally seen leaf springs break at the factory center pin. Adding another hole will only make things worse even though the mall speed bumps wont put much flex on the springs.
Lol well im thinkin welding asusual. If you have a crack you can drill a hole at the end and it will stop the cracking then just weld everythin up. Like i said i know leaf springs are a different animal.
well i cant think of anyway to move the springs so that the centerpin lines up where it needs to be without makin the mounts look goofy this is all just a thought
Gonna ride like a tank Dave. The shackle angle is going to be all wrong with a shorter spring. Longer leafs provide a little additional angle which is alright since the 53" spring makes the shackle a little too vertical, so the ride mproves when a longer spring is used. This is another reason why the 54" SD springs work so well.
Using a shorter spring makes for a rigid ride, and that shackle angle is gonna ride pretty rough.
Chrono this is gonna be a mall crawler so i dont need much approach angle to get over them speed bumps.
Ed i was thinkin bout them for the crew so i can put the shackle mount wherever i want it. Just qworried bout the part from the front back. I jus tthought id buy the truck if i could use everythin off of it. Around here id nevermake any money off the kit to mkae it worth sellin.
