ssidney the h-pipe pretty much just equalizes the pulses between each side of the engine...you'd get better flow and better sound and more power with an x-pipe......if you're running that...you must have a single rear tank?

na, dual tanks, I'm wanting to equalize the pulses, thats what evens the flow, and I may be able to fit an X pipe...great idea

got it figured out, left pipe will cross to right, right behind transmission (may have to fab a heat shield) I will then use a very narrow x-pipe where the cat used to be and install the o2 in the x, from there the pipes will run side by side taking the same route as the single exhaust, mufflers will be install vertically for space where the factory muffler was...probably won't have pictures until spring....installing the headers in below zero weather was bad enough

stock location for the o2 is just in front of the cat...which is about 8" closer than where I'm putting it, keep in mind this truck has 1 4-wire o2 sensor with a very long connector from factory

Has anyone installed a Bassani header? My next project is the install of a complete dual exhaust system on my 1997 F-250.

There is NO benefit to runing duals in this manner. The left bank plumbing will be longer than the right bank so exhaust pulses will be out of sync and the crossover or X will provide no additional scavenging. Frankly I don't see the reason for the obsession with true duals everybody seems to have around here, the benefits you get from longtube headers will far outweigh any miniscule boost achieved with a technically correct x pipe.

O2 sensor sould also be as close to the original position as possible to match factory computer calibration.

It's smaller than 1-5/8" which is what most of these small block headers use. I don't see it making much difference on a Ford motor with E7 heads, you're not getting anywhere near fully utilizing the flow capacity of either primary tube size with these wheezer heads.
